NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS
Neurological disorders (ND) are diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system. The brain, spinal cord, cranial nerves, peripheral nerves, nerve roots, autonomic nervous system including the enteric and vagal nervous systems, neuromuscular junction, and muscles.
We will discuss the neurochemical and psychological basis of ND, in particular the impact of Brain-derived neurotrophic factor BDNF by reviewing the gut-brain axis, the HPA axis, the endocrine system and any physiological factors caused by stress and their implications on ND.
We will focus on such common pathologies such as body dysmorphic disorders including anorexia, bulimia. Also, reviewed are autism, ADHD, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, migraine, multiple sclerosis, and affect disorders that have neurological implications.
