Autoimmune Disease In Two Parts

The incidence and prevalence of autoimmune disease markedly increased over the second half of the 20th century, and it has become a major health problem.
It is claimed that autoimmune diseases (ADs) effect 5% of Australians and are more common than cancer or heart disease. 50 million Americans or 16% of the population have an AD and if this is so, Australian incidences are likely grossly under reported.
Only $591 million US dollars were spent by the US National Institute Health on AD research compared to the $6.1 billion spent on cancer. There are twice as many people suffering AD than cancer. NIH estimates annual direct health care costs for AD to be in the range of $100 billion (source: NIH, NIAID). In comparison, cancers costs are $57 billion (source: NIH, ACS).
There is no cure for most ADs, just symptomatic or palliative relief. While there are over 100 different ADs this seminar will look at those more commonly seen in clinic. We will look at different botanicals, which address some of the underlying immune issues that are disrupted and may bring significant relief. We will look at a number of lab tests, which may aid in creating AD protocols.
